![]() ![]() I loved the author’s writing style and choice of words. I loved the characterisation, the humour is on point. A beautiful tale of young ever lasting love. Overall, I would rate this movie a 2 out of 5. Despite the warnings, A Walk To Remember got me crying at the end. Although Moore’s singing is nothing short of beautiful, it also serves as a distraction from the plot and feels more like a self-advertisement than a passion of Jamie Sullivan. In addition, the script includes a few musical numbers by Jamie Sullivan when the play the two have been practicing for is finally shown to the public. The cookie-cutter acting that takes place is distracting and makes an intimate and emotional love story seem very crafted rather than genuine. ![]() Although both West and Moore do a good job at playing their part, they seem very scripted and it makes the romance seem very cheesy. The movie itself, is very emotional, and it takes two very talented actors to immerse themselves in a movie where the characters have a life-changing experience at such a young age. ![]() The novel is squarely placed in small-town North Carolina never once do outside forces threaten to intrude on that setting within the novel. Although the attempt to reframe the book for the current generation of teenagers was commendable, it was not successful. Nicholas Sparks A Walk to Remember is a successful novel because of its appeal to all readers who have ever experienced what many might refer to as the 'turbulent years' of high school. Having been a huge fan of the Nicholas Spark’s book the movie was based off, the massive adjustments in plot made by the director and producer (Sparks) to better fit the target audience, were a big disappointment. ![]()
